decorations
For your alien landscape cut out stars, moons, and planets from silver foil and use them to decorate your walls with green, silver and black streamers and balloons. Create flying space ships using 2 aluminium pie plates, one inverted on top of the other, then pass a thread or fishing line though them and hang from ceiling at different heights.

games
Space Race
It’s best to play this one in the garden if you can!
• Create two identical obstacle courses with hoops to climb through, blankets to wriggle under, and chairs to run around - decorate with stars and balloons for the space theme
• At the start of each one, place a bowl of Hartley’s Jelly and an empty bowl at the end
• Then split your kids into two teams and give them each a spoon
• The idea is simple: each team races the other to take jelly from the first bowl and place it in the second
• The winning team is the one who manages to successfully transfer the most jelly.
Jelly Blindfold
This game uses a blindfold to simulate the darkness of deep space. It’s a bit messy but great fun!
• Sit two people opposite each other and blindfold them both
• Hand one a dish of jelly and ice cream and a spoon, and ask the other to put their hands behind their back (so they can't feel for the spoon and guide it into their mouth).
• The person with the jelly & ice cream must now try to feed the other.
